11 Adelaide Experiences to Add to Your RoofClimb

When you’re looking for things to do in Adelaide, you don’t want to limit yourself to just one activity – you want to be able to make a day of it!

Adelaide is a fairly small city, so it’s easy to pack a whole lot of great experiences into one day. We find that a lot of our RoofClimbers are energised by the climb and afterwards are raring to go!

No matter what aspect of the climb is the drawcard for you, Adelaide has a wide variety of things to do that will complement that need. These are our 11 favourite activities in Adelaide that will add to your experience and make it an extra-special day to remember!

More Exercise

Cycle along the River Torrens

Adelaide Oval sits right next to the bustling Riverbank Precinct built around the River Torrens. You can hire free bikes at a number of places around the city, including Bicycle SA on Franklin Street, and spend the morning before or afternoon after your climb taking in some of the beautiful natural scenery up and down the riverbanks.

Make a Splash

The Paddleboats in Elder Park are a popular tourist attraction year round in Adelaide. You and a partner can happily paddle the boat around the river, but just be careful you don’t get too close to the water fountain!

Tour Adelaide Oval

If you’re a sports fan, you might want to make the most of your time at Adelaide Oval itself with a tour of the iconic grounds. With a rich history of celebrated sportsmen and women and our historic century-old scoreboard, not to mention performances by some of the world’s biggest musical superstars, there’s something for everyone.

Feast on Foot

If you’d like to see a bit more of Adelaide, and don’t mind a tasty treat or two, Feast on Foot is the tour for you. Your guide will take you around to some of the most delicious places in Adelaide to try our world-class culinary delights. On the way, you’ll be shown some of the city’s most impressive street art pieces.

West End Draught Brewery Tours

This is definitely one for after your RoofClimb, but a West End Brewery Tour will give you inside look at how this iconic South Australian beer is made. You’ll learn all about the history of the Brewery, which re-opened to visitors in October 2015 after a big redevelopment, and you’ll get to enjoy a beer and cheese tasting at the end with your guide.

Sugar Hit

Blackeby’s Old Sweet Shop is one of Adelaide’s biggest and best lolly shops. They’ve been providing Adelaide with delicious sweets and imported candy from around the world since 1906. Visiting the lolly shop before your RoofClimb might give you that extra boost of energy you need to take you all the way to the top! The beautiful and unique shopfront alone is worth the trip!

Riverboat Cruise

The Popeye fleet of boats are State Heritage icons. The trip from Elder Park to the Adelaide Zoo has been enjoyed by families since 1935, but there are also a variety of tour options to choose from. For something a bit different, try their regular musical performances, known as Floating Melodies, and go on a South Australian based journey for an hour of food and fun. It’ll give you a chance to sit down and appreciate the views of the river that you’ll see on your climb up close.

Art and Culture

Your RoofClimb will give you a new perspective on the redeveloped Adelaide Oval, which has blended the iconic heritage with world-class, modern facilities. To complement the RoofClimb experience, we recommend exploring one of Adelaide’s most beautiful old buildings, the Art Gallery of South Australia. It’s home to one of Australia’s great art collections and is a truly impressive way to spend a relaxing afternoon.

More Adventures

Race Against Time

If you’re looking to extend your adventure once you’ve scaled Adelaide Oval’s roofline, you could add one of Adelaide’s Escape or Adventure Rooms to your to-do list. Locked in a room with mysterious objects, you’ll need to use all your wits to solve the clues and escape! These games are perfect to do in any size group and are sure to give your brain as much of a workout as the RoofClimb will give to your legs!

Sky-high Challenge

While this activity is a little way out of the city (about a 20 minute drive), it is a great match for your RoofClimb experience! MegaAdventure Aerial in West Beach also takes you high up in the sky with a series of challenges that are both scary and great fun! If you’d rather simply take in the views of the beach and Adelaide Hills, there’s a less adventurous version waiting for you as well.

Any of these activities would make a great addition to your RoofClimb day! If you have any other suggestions that you think would be perfect, we’d love to hear about it on our Facebook page!
